Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation ,prominently  called as CPR,  is an emergency procedure which is performed in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person in cardiac arrest.
Dr. SRINIVAS RAMAKA, Consultant Cardiologist and ,Chairman,Srinivasa Heart Foundation, is conducting CPR Training for lay public.
DATE: 29 -SEP- 2012
TIME: 10:30 am

About Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation :

Despite major advances in medical science,Sudden Cardiac  Arrest particularly Out-of Hospital Cardiac Arrest leading to death remains an important public health problem.
Despite the fact that more than 50 years have passed by since modern  CPR is introduced, the survival rate from Out-Of Hospital Cardiac Arrest remains 6 %.With an aim to improve the chance of survival from Out-Of Hospital  Cardiac Arrest, the American Heart Association has been providing periodic updates and guidelines for CPR and various organisations throughout the world have been replicating the guidelines issued in providing training to lay public in CPR.

Training @ warangal by Dr.Srinivas Ramaka:

Though instances of Sudden Cardiac Arrest are not uncommon in India, awareness on suchunfortunate events and knowledge on CPR is less among the  Indian public.
As per a study by the World Heart Federation, not even 1 % of the Indian population has proper knowledge on CPR.With this background,Srinivasa Heart Foundation has initiated the  important public health project of training lay public in CPR  in the year 2009.
After the introduction of the new guidelines on CPR in 2010,which marked the 50th anniversary of  CPR, a systematic training program in CPR for lay public was initiated in "Warangal".
