B Vitamins are the most well known as vitamins for memory. There are many B vitamins in this family of vitamins. The three most important are B9, B6 and B12. Vitamin B7 (also called Vitamin H or Biotin) has also been shown to stave off depression and dementia in elderly people.

These vitamins aid oxygen circulation to the brain as well as the production of healthier red and white blood cells. 

These vitamins can also aid in the breaking down of amino acids. Amino acids have the potential to become harmful toxins when interacting with nerve cells in the brain. B vitamins can be found primarily in green vegetables and most citrus fruits. You can also supplement your diet with vitamin pills.

 

Vitamin C is probably the most well known vitamin. Few know of its benefits as one of the vitamins for memory. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant vitamin. Being an antioxidant means it fights against free radical toxins that may target the brain. Free radicals attack brain tissue causing damage over time. 

Over a long enough period of time, free radical damage can lead to problems with not only memory, but problem with focus and the ability to learn in general. Vitamin C can be found in not only citrus fruits but green vegetables and various nuts and seeds.

 

Vitamin E is another one of the best vitamins for memory. Vitamin E has been shown in numerous medical studies to have the potential to boost all facets of brain function. 

Vitamin E has been shown to be able to help the brain perform at its top levels. Vitamin E helps to improve concentration skills in the brain. 

Above all else, Vitamin E can reverse the effects of aging in the brain. Elderly individuals are most often encouraged to take vitamins for memory loss and Vitamin E is the most often suggested for these reasons.

 

While Vitamin D is most well known as a way to maintain strong bones, it is also one of the best vitamins for memory. Vitamin D can help an individual with short term memory which is can be an issue for people of any age. 

Medical studies have shown that a Vitamin D deficiency can lend itself to having troubles with short term memory in most people. The cognitive functions of the brain are often impaired with a lack of Vitamin D. This is one of the more important vitamins for memory.
