How To Reduce Knee Pain and Swelling

1) Overstretching, overuse, or twisting causes pain, which is common during exercise.

2) Repetitive running or jumping can create pain between the kneecap and the shin.

3) When you try to stand, it gives way, and you can't straighten it out. You might hear a popping sound.

4) Pain and swelling behind the kneecap in teenagers and young adults

5)After a collision or an abrupt shift in direction, the kneecap changes shape.




Causes for Knee Pain can be a sign of a variety of disorders. 

Try this first:

1) Put as little weight as possible on your knee - don't stand for long periods of time, for example.

2) For every 2 to 3 hours, apply an ice pack (or a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel) on your knee for up to 20 minutes.
