Medical Institutes Recognition as a Centres of Excellence

Under the National Mental Health Programme, support has been provided for establishment of  11 Centres of Excellence in the country in the field of mental health during the 11^th Five Year  Plan by upgrading and  strengthening identified existing mental health hospitals/ institutes for  addressing the acute manpower gap and  provision of state of the art mental health care facilities in the long run. Preference was given to centres where  the respective State Governments showed commitment for faculty and other recurring expenditure  annually .
